ON FOOD

Please take 20 minutes of your time to watch this elucidating video about the highly disquieting path down trash lane our food industry has taken...Although I love to cook, I often time am too exhausted after my day (work and somedays school) to want to whip up a dinner, let alone tomorrow's lunch. Jamie Oliver draws our attention to the importance of knowing what you put in your mouth and what you teach your eventual children to put in theirs.

"It is important that every child leaves school knowing how to cook ten recipes that will save their life."

In honour of that premise, here is one of my favourite - easy-breezy, healthy and overall deliciously satisfying. Use these instructions as a base, and play your own variations on the theme; onions, green onions and ginger is what I usually add to mine.

MAPLE SOY SALMON
Ingredients
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 pound fresh salmon
Preparation
In small bowl, mix maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, sea salt and pepper.
Line a shallow glass baking dish with foil.
Place salmon in dish and coat with maple syrup mix.
Close foil around salmon and let marinate in the fridge for 30 mins.
Preheat over to 400°F.
Bake salmon 30 mins.

DARK, EDGY, SEXY

I'm really digging Stefano Pilati's last collection for Yves Saint-Laurent, Fall/Winter 2012. The way the chain maille drapes around the body like an armour, in contrast with the plunging necklines and feminine silhouette...just RA-VA-GING. I know everybody is vibing on the springtime pastels and colour-blocking at the moment, but something about this collection feels so right, right now.

THE EQUIPMENT BLOUSE

If there is ever a word that pops into mind with talks of silky, constructed blouses, it has to be Equipment. Their legendary Signature blouse, launched in 1975 as part of Christian Restoin's initiative at introducing men's shirts into women's wardrobes, is today the epitome of simplicity at its best.

I clicked home my first Signature blouse today, in Red Dahlia. It's kind of a bold move for me to go for the red as opposed to the classic ivory. I'm so excited!
