ON FOOD

Please take 20 minutes of your time to watch this elucidating video about the highly disquieting path down trash lane our food industry has taken...Although I love to cook, I often time am too exhausted after my day (work and somedays school) to want to whip up a dinner, let alone tomorrow's lunch. Jamie Oliver draws our attention to the importance of knowing what you put in your mouth and what you teach your eventual children to put in theirs.

"It is important that every child leaves school knowing how to cook ten recipes that will save their life."

In honour of that premise, here is one of my favourite - easy-breezy, healthy and overall deliciously satisfying. Use these instructions as a base, and play your own variations on the theme; onions, green onions and ginger is what I usually add to mine.

MAPLE SOY SALMON
Ingredients
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 pound fresh salmon
Preparation
In small bowl, mix maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, sea salt and pepper.
Line a shallow glass baking dish with foil.
Place salmon in dish and coat with maple syrup mix.
Close foil around salmon and let marinate in the fridge for 30 mins.
Preheat over to 400°F.
Bake salmon 30 mins.

DARK, EDGY, SEXY

I'm really digging Stefano Pilati's last collection for Yves Saint-Laurent, Fall/Winter 2012. The way the chain maille drapes around the body like an armour, in contrast with the plunging necklines and feminine silhouette...just RA-VA-GING. I know everybody is vibing on the springtime pastels and colour-blocking at the moment, but something about this collection feels so right, right now.

THE EQUIPMENT BLOUSE

If there is ever a word that pops into mind with talks of silky, constructed blouses, it has to be Equipment. Their legendary Signature blouse, launched in 1975 as part of Christian Restoin's initiative at introducing men's shirts into women's wardrobes, is today the epitome of simplicity at its best.

I clicked home my first Signature blouse today, in Red Dahlia. It's kind of a bold move for me to go for the red as opposed to the classic ivory. I'm so excited!

NEW IN

photo: shopbop

My man awakened the child in me last week with an Easter hunt, but instead of (just) chocolates, I unearthed this gorgeous timepiece that I've been eyeing. The oversized face adds an unexpected twist to an otherwise v. classic model. I wasn't sure how I would pull it off thanks to my easily-overwhelmed chicken wrists, but verdict in: Sterling! Get it here.

Also, if you're on Instagram, follow me @histoiresdunboudoir. I know I can be a bad blogger sometimes, but I'm a little bit better of an Instagrammer ;)

NEW IN

Meet the new addition to our domestic central! This beautifully hefty number single-handedly enhances our living space. Talk about an industrial revolution.

LOOK DU JOUR

I wore these floral jeans from Levi's over the long weekend. They were an impulse purchase, on a whim, on a cold winter day, in an attempt to squash the abominable January (February, March...?) blues. I wore them once, or twice, then...nada. I only uncovered them recently and love how relevant they are in the light of the season.

OIL CLEANSING METHOD

Ok. So I ditched my Checks and Balances, which, by the way, is the best facewash ever, for the sake of my cooking oil. The OCM (or Oil Cleansing Method) is a natural cleansing method that rebalances your skin's natural oil levels. Mix 80% olive oil and 20% castor oil. By massaging your face with the mix - it penetrates your poors, dissolves the natural oil produced by your face that has trapped all the impurities you put your face into nowadays and preps it to come off easily when you put a damp, very warm cloth over your face. As a result your skin is radiant and blemish-free. For full instructions click here. Sounds wonderful, right? The only thing is, there is a adaptation period for your skin, during which your skin breaks out, cause it doesn't know what the hell is going on....Well...I'm in that phase right now. One tip I can give you, though, is to test out the formula. If you break out a lot you should increase your % of castor oil, and alternatively if you find your skin extremely dried out, up the olive oil. And what about this picture, right? I found it on lifeinitaly.com and photoshopped it to this Warhol worthy one. Whad'yathink?
