Boudoir, n. A small room, esp. if pleasant, or elegantly furnished, to which a lady may retire to be alone, or to receive intimate friends; a lady's bedroom; a lady's (or sometimes a gentleman's) private room.
Merriam-Webster (1913)

Now, considering that this definition is nearly a century old, a few modifications are in order. For instance, access to our boudoirs are not only limited to intimate friends nowadays. Take for example probably the most widely recognizable one below! Although I would say that we could all call ourselves intimate friends of Carrie's... including my boyfriend, who recognized this one within first sight.

Furthermore, today's boudoir is not necessarily elegantly furnished. It can range from all sizes and styles. It can be orderly or messy, plan or over-the-top, big or small. It can even be drawn on the walls!
